No one ever expects to hear the diagnoses of cancer either for themselves or a loved one and yet well over a million new cases of cancer according to the National Cancer Institute were diagnosed in the United States in 2016 that sets many people on a journey that can leave many people feeling overwhelmed. Valley Presbyterian Church is offering an informative workshop that we’re confident will encourage and equip anyone beginning this journey.
Through discussion and personal stories we’ll look at how to make sense of the anxieties felt; how to tell others of our new challenge; how to go about researching into the particular cancer faced and what to believe; what kind of questions should I ask the medical professionals as well as the spiritual challenges that are before me. These and many other questions will be examined in the course of this workshop along with the personal story of how Dr. David Joynt Head of Staff at Valley Presbyterian Church faced the challenge of cancer in his life and what he discovered about himself and his faith in God. Our guest presenter is Kathy Baughman, Chaplain and Cancer Case Management at Mayo Clinic.
This workshop will be offered on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 9:00 – 12:00 noon at Valley Presbyterian Church 6947 E. McDonald Road, Paradise Valley, AZ with a continental breakfast starting at 8:30. Childcare is available upon request.
